According to ABC7 News, the family of Maurica Manyan, who was fatally shot by during a police training in D.C., will be suing the city.
25-year-old Maurica Manyan, who was a library cop at the time, was attending a training conducted by former D.C. Police Lieutenant Jesse Porter at the Anacostia Library on August 4, 2022.
Towards the end of the training, Porter replaced his practice gun with his real gun. While attempting to take a photo of the class, the former cop pulled his weapon, aimed it at Manyan, and discharged it. Porter alleges he thought it was the fake gun and classmates reported his behavior as joking over-the-top.
The young mother of a 5-year-old boy was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Porter pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter while armed and unlawful discharge of a firearm. On August 25 of this year, he was sentenced to three years in prison.
Now, her family has retained a lawyer and intends on suing the city for negligence.
In other words he got away with murder? SMH. Actually he hasn’t gotten away with God saw and knows what was intended he will judge him accordingly.

How you going to replace your fake gun with the real gun then shot somebody and say you thought it was the fake gun, you had just switched guns when you shot her, how you forget that quick. Come on now. He knew what he was doing. He need to get more than 3 years, he intended to kill her. I hope her family sues the sh****t out of him and ask for life in prison, HE MURDERED HER ON PURPOSE!!!
