A Florida man was arrested for drowning the family dog after a heated argument.
The Pembroke Pines Police Department was dispatched to the Advenir at San Tropez apartments on Sunday after relatives reported a horrific event.
25-year-old Corey Vaughn Dacres got into an argument with his family members earlier in the day on Sunday. According to police, Dacres then grabbed the family pet, Unity, a 6-year-old pitbull terrier mix, out of spit.
Dacres dragged the dog to the gated community pool and threw her over the fence. He then hopped the fence, grabbed Unity, and jumped in the pool, holding her underwater until she stopped breathing.
Family members immediately contacted the police who discovered the pup’s lifeless body, in the shallow end of the pool.
He was charged with Aggravated Animal Cruelty and given a bond set at $35,000.
