Ex-Wichita County Sheriff’s Deputy Faces 10-Count Charge Involving Sexual Harassment
An ex-Wichita County, Texas, sheriff’s deputy has been hit with a 10-count charge by a grand jury.
Brett Brasher, 50, was indicted and arrested on two counts of violation of civil rights of a person in custody and eight counts of official oppression.
Each of the first two counts resulted in a bond set at $50,000 each. The bond for the last eight counts was set at $5,000 each.
Documents note that Brasher was accused of touching a female civilian inappropriately at a Valero gas station. He is accused of sexually harassing her while he was performing his duties as a sheriff’s deputy. This occurred in early 2021. He was punished with suspension without pay for three days. To add, he had to take a sexual harassment class before going back to work.
In October of 2021, he is said to have displayed unwanted sexual advances and sexually harassed a female deputy at a jail. Camera recordings show him hugging on his co-worker.
More video footage and interviews revealed Brasher assaulting several inmates while attempting to keep it out of the view of cameras.
On Thursday, Brasher was held in custody at the Wichita County Jail. More charges may come in the future.
