A teacher in Orange County, Florida, is facing federal charges after 28 sex recordings of her and a former eighth grade student were discovered on his phone.
One video lasted 13 minutes and 13 seconds long.
Federal detectives say that the student’s parents discovered recordings of Marie-Jo Gordo and their underage son. She had been his teacher in 2019 prior to becoming his teacher again at a charter school more recently.
It seemed as though the two had been having sex in cars and hotel rooms across Central Florida. The recordings were taken between June and September of 2023, and three of the incidences were noted in court documents.
After the parents contacted authorities in September, they handed over their son’s phone for review. Detectives then discovered that several of the recordings were taken and was sent from what they think was Gordo’s phone.
When the boy was questioned, he admitted to detectives that he and Gordo had an inappropriate relationship.
Not only was Gordo his teacher, but she was also his “religious ambassador,” police say.
She was apprehended in October, and on Wednesday, she was indicted on three counts of sexually exploiting of a minor.
Gordo is expected to be arraigned on Thursday.
