Prosecutors say that Shannon Kepler, 61, and his wife took their 18-year-old adopted daughter, Lisa, to a shelter in August 2014. They didn’t leave a cell phone, money, or other clothing after having problems with her.

A few days later, her dad, an officer with the Tulsa Police Department, gained access to her Facebook page. He saw that she had a boyfriend, 19-year-old Jeremey Lake.

He wrote down Lake’s address from a records request. He grabbed his gun and drove to the residence. There, he found the couple strolling down the street.

Kepler attempted to talk to Lisa, but when she from him, he fired two fatal shots into Lake’s chest. He then shot at Lisa, Lake’s 13-year-old brother, and his friend. The brother was wounded.

Kepler left the scene. His lawyer turned in the loaded weapon fourteen hours later. He initially claimed that Lake had drawn a weapon on Lake first, but nothing was found.

By 2017, a decision by 3 hung juries had convicted him of manslaughter. Kepler appealed.

In April, a federal grand jury convicted him of discharging a firearm during a violent crime that resulted in murder. An additional charge of assault with a deadly weapon was added.

Kepler has now been given a 25-year-prison sentence.

  1. First of all I would like to say superb blog!
I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you do not
mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and
clear your thoughts prior to writing. I have had a tough time clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out.
I do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally wasted just trying to figure out
how to begin. Any suggestions or tips? Appreciate it!
