Mark Anthony Aguirre, a 64-year-old ex-Houston Police Captain, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Aguirre was apprehended on Tuesday after he was indicted for supposedly holding a gun up to an AC repairman. The issue was relating to voter fraud.

Aguirre said that he had been watching David Lopez-Zuniga for four days, thinking he was behind a huge scheme and that 750,000 invalid ballots were in his work truck.

Officials say that only air conditioning parts and tools were discovered.

On October 19, 2020, Aguirre slammed his SUV into the back of the man’s vehicle to get him to stop. The worker exited his vehicle, and Aguirre held the gun to him, made him lie on the ground, and placed his knee on the victim’s back.

If found guilty, Aguirre could spend up to 20 years in prison.

Dr. Steven Hotze, a right-wing activist, was sued by the victim for funding Aguirre’s actions through his project that looks deeper into claims of voter fraud.

Additionally, in 2003, Aguirre was terminated from the police force for his part in a street racing event.
