Jack Sweeney, 19, operates 15 flight-tracking accounts, using a device he made that automatically shares when a celebrity takes-off or arrives at an airport.
Now, Elon Musk, Tesla Founder, has told Sweeney that he will give him $5,000 to close down a Twitter account that follows his private flights, the teen said.
With all the celebrities that Sweeney tracks, Musk’s account, @ElonJet, has the most followings, 97,000. This is what probably prompted Musk to send Sweeney a direct message.
“I don’t love the idea of being shot by a nutcase,” Musk wrote in his message to Sweeney.
“Any chance to up that to $50k? It would be great support for college and would possibly allow me to get a car. Maybe even a Model 3,” Sweeney replied back.
The last time the two communicated was when Sweeney said that he would get rid of the account for free. But, only if Musk offered him an internship. The teen said his last message hasn’t been read.
Sweeney told Musk that he located available information about his private jet. He then made an algorithm that uploads Musk’s plane status on Twitter.
Musk’s flight statuses are open records to the public. However, only high-level experts in the field would comprehend where it is.
