A grand jury has decided not to indict the eight officers involved in the death of Marvin Scott III in Collin County jail.
Officers were called to Allen Outlet mall on March 14 when Scott was allegedly acting erratically in the parking lot.
Officers arrived and arrested Scott for marijuana. He died within 10 hours of being in custody.
It’s believed Scott was suffering from a mental health crisis but was cleared by a doctor to be jailed.
The grand jury released a statement saying, “After careful consideration of the applicable law and all the relevant facts we find the no probable cause exist to charge any person with a criminal offense related to the death of Mr. Scott. Accordingly, we have issued a no bill for each of the eight detention officers involved. We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Mr. Scott for the terrible loss you have suffered. We hope you can someday find peace.”
