Duncanville ISD Basketball Coach And Four Players Suspended During Saturday Game Against Desoto High

Duncanville ISD announced that high school’s basketball coach along with four students have been suspended due to a fight at this past weekends game against rival team Desoto high school.
The incident occurred Saturday during third quarter with 4:32 left in the game between two players.
Both players involved in the fight were suspended from three games while other players that rushed from the sidelines to the floor were also suspended from the game.
Duncanville high schools coach LaJeanna Howard was also suspended from one game along with four four other players that got suspended for one to two games.
Duncanville has a home Wednesday game against Waco Midway and they have not said who will coach the team.
Duncanville ISD has not released the names of the players involved.
Desoto ISD athletic director Larry Davis also stated that the girls involved in Saturday’s brawl were also punished.
UIL rules state that any player ejected from a contest must miss the following game, but Duncanville handed out its own punishment due to the nature of the altercation.
Duncanville ISD Superintendent Dr. Marc Smith said in a statement, “This event is unacceptable and does not meet the expectations for athletes in our school district. While we will continue to support our players and coaches, sportsmanship is a priority for us. We have taken the appropriate actions and administered consequences for those who failed to meet our expectations.”
DeSoto, ranked No. 2 in the state in Class 6A, beat No. 3 Duncanville 69-60 to complete a two-game district sweep of defending state champion.
