A woman has been arrested for allegedly selling fentanyl-laced pills that killed a resident in Fresno, California.
In January, Jade Dreith, 41, died of fentanyl poisoning, according to the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office.
After a nine-month long investigation, two suspects have been charged in connection of Dreith’s death. A woman allegedly sold Dreith the pills two days before she was found dead in her apartment.
“She didn’t know she was going to die. She didn’t plan to kill herself or do anything like that. She was folding laundry, eating a snack, and playing with her dog and fell asleep and never woke up,” Dreith’s sister, Sage Dreith, told reporters.
On October 13th, Cassidy Marie Gonzalez, 21, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
Valverde-Nuno, 25, was also arrested and charged with being an accessory after the fact for allegedly harboring, concealing or aiding Gonzalez to “avoid and escape from arrest, trial, conviction, or punishment” for the murder, according to the criminal complaint.
Gonzalez and Valverde-Nuno were also charged with counts related to the possession and sale of fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid.
