Driver Dies After Jumping into Lake Ray Hubbard Following High-Speed Pursuit in Garland

The Garland Police Department is investigating an incident from Wednesday night involving a driver displaying erratic behavior.

Around 10:30 p.m., officers noticed a suspicious vehicle on the eastbound service road of East I-30 Highway. When they activated their emergency lights, the driver sped away, weaving in and out of lanes before abandoning the vehicle and jumping off a bridge into Lake Ray Hubbard.

The vehicle eventually crashed into a barrier. The driver was later found in the water, and despite rescue efforts from both the Dallas and Rowlett Police Departments, he was pronounced dead.

His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, and the investigation is ongoing.
