A 6th DPD Officer has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus Thursday and another is under quarantine out of an abundance of caution.
The officer is a traffic officer and their last day of work was March 18 when they called the supervisor by phone about not feeling well.
After not getting any better at home the individual went to the doctor to be tested and doctors confirmed that they had the COVID-19.
The officer is now home under a 14 day self quarantine.
DPD has since removed the officers motorcycle from service and it will be sprayed and sanitized by a professional contractor.
A narcotics officer working out of headquarters also notified a supervisor Thursday that the individuals spouse tested positive for COVID-19 and the officer is now under a 14 day quarantine although the individual has shown no symptoms.
The officers coworkers have been notified and DPD’s medical staff will be assessing other officers to see if quarantine will be necessary.
The area where the officer works has been sprayed and sanitized by a professional contractor.
