‘Don’t Book A Cruise’, Says CDC

On Thursday, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention stated that people shouldn’t travel by ship, even if they are vaccinated. This comes as a new surge of positive COVID-19 cases is occurring on board ships.

The CDC has raised its travel warning on cruises to Level 4 which is the highest level after over 20 ships have had outbreaks of the infection.

“It is especially important that travelers who are at an increased risk of severe illness avoid travel on cruise ships, and river cruises, regardless of vaccination status,” the CDC stated.

Right now, there are 94 cruise ships that are being closely monitored.

The CDC has said that any person who is traveling on a cruise should get vaccinated before their trip or get a booster if eligible. Also, masks have to be worn in shared areas, and travelers who haven’t been vaccinated must quarantine for five days and get tested after returning from their trip.

Nearly all cruise lines have required adults to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19, reports say.

As of now, the CDC has lessened some cruise ship mandates such as mask wearing if 95% of travelers and 95% of cruise ship workers have been fully vaccinated.
