A jury found former President Donald Trump liable for sexually abusing and defaming E. Jean Carroll.
Carroll, a former Elle magazine columnist, alleges that Trump raped and sexually abused her at a department store in the 1990s.
Although the jurors did not find Trump guilty of rape, he was found guilty of sexual abuse and ordered to pay Carroll $2 million in compensatory damages and also $20,000 in punitive damages for Battery.
In addition, Carroll also alleges that Donald Trump defamed her when he posted on social media about her in 2022. The jury found that the posts mentioning Carroll and directed toward her disparaged her character.
In all, Trump was ordered to pay her $5 million in compensatory damages.
