After 17 years at CNN, sources report that Don Lemon has been terminated. Lemon has expressed that he had no idea that this was coming.
“I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN. I am stunned. After 17 years at CNN, I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly,” Lemon stated on Monday.
“At no time was I ever given an indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network. It is clear that there are larger issues at play,” he added. He ended his statement saying thank you to his teams and co-workers for the time that they spent working together.
Lemon was on air on Monday morning, not knowing what was coming afterwards.
Two months ago, he was reprimanded following sexists statements regarding Nikki Haley. Back then, he had stated that she wasn’t in her prime anymore because she was 51. Also, not too long ago, Lemon was captured on hot mic making statements about Jon Stewart. However, it had appeared that those two issues were no longer a problem.
It isn’t known if there were any other problems at the network.
