Alan Li has been arrested and fired from Mount Sinai, in Miami Beach, Florida. There, he was a resident, or doctor-in-training.

This occurred on May 12 after he was charged with attempted sex trafficking of a minor under 14. He is also facing charges of attempted coercion or enticement of a minor.

On March 12, the 26-year-old had started being investigated after a woman reached out to federal agents. She was an escort that had gotten to know Li through a dating app. The woman told police that Li had been looking for underage girls in Miami.

Li got in touch with the woman through Snapchat and said that he was trying to assist a friend named Michael Chen. He stated that he wanted the two to talk because of the woman’s experiences of being trafficked.

When questioned about the age of the young girls that he was looking for, Li said, “ideally 8-15.”

The woman told police that she believed that Li and Chen are one in the same. After authorities gained control of the woman’s Snapchat account to talk to Li, they agreed with her.

Li had called a phone number that he thought was a trafficker. However, it was only a detective posing as a trafficker. Li then discussed a “live-in” scenario he said that he had before with a 13-year-old girl who became his sex slave. Li also requested to pay the $500 sex costs with a 12-year-old girl. He preferred to pay with Bitcoin or cash instead of CashApp.

After planning to meet up with the trafficker, Li changed his mind. He contacted the woman, feeling that something wasn’t right with the situation.

Although Li’s lawyers don’t believe that police have enough to convict Li, prosecutors feel that the discussions are enough.
