Disabled Woman Survived Nine Days Locked Inside Towed Vehicle

In Kent, Washington, a disabled woman was discovered alive after being inside of a locked, towed car for nine days.

On February 14, close to 3 p.m., authorities answered to a missing person report when someone stated that they hadn’t seen their disabled sister, 28, for many days.

Detectives learned that the last time the missing woman was observed was on February 5. This was when her 45-year-old mother had parked her car at a Kent gas station. She then walked away, abandoning her daughter inside of the vehicle.

Eventually, employees at the gas station contacted Skyway Towing to transport the vehicle away from the location. “Gas station workers knocked on the car to make sure nobody was in it. My driver had done the same. We thought we were clear,” stated the towing manager, Bon Pauza.

Authorities reached out to the company about the car, and crews found the woman inside of it. She was in the backseat underneath a pile of clothes. It was noted that because of her disability, it prevented the woman from calling for assistance.

After spending nine days, in cold weather, inside of the car, the woman was transported to a medical facility in serious condition.

An investigation is ongoing. It is unknown if the mother will face charges.
