DFW Rental Car Fraud Operation Related To Chicago Shootings

1.2kviews

Last month, at DFW Airport, members of a rental car fraud scheme were busted. They were connected to a large shooting spree in Chicago that wounded 5 people two weeks after they were let out of jail.

On the evening of September 9, employees of a rental car company at the airport called authorities. They stated that someone with a fake driver’s license was attempting to rent a vehicle.

William Wilson and four others from Chicago were apprehended. They had been staying in a Dallas hotel.

After their release, their cell phones were kept and analyzed. Fraud information connected to the shootings were discovered on the devices.

Then, a car rental agency notified the police of three more cars that were stolen.  Those had been connected to the Chicago shootings, too.

The suspects have been charged with fraud, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and engaging in organized crime.

No arrests have been made in the shooting incidents.
