A Denton Police Officer was shot during a traffic stop and is now in critical condition.
The incident happened early Tuesday morning near Taco Bell off of West University Blvd when an officer tried to pull a vehicle over for an equipment violation.
The suspects in the car opened fire striking the officer and backup officers returned fire before the suspects fled the scene.
The officer was transported to Medical City Denton in critical condition.
Carrollton police saw the suspects and had a small speed chase before the suspects pulled over near Valley View Ln and Luna Rd.
The suspects were arrested and also taken to a nearby hospital for non life threatening injuries.
Texas Rangers and detectives arrived collecting evidence from the scene and are expected to give a press conference update Tuesday afternoon.
The names of the officer and suspects have not been released at this time.
