1.2kviews

A 22-year-old Denton City Jail employee was arrested after being accused of making sexual advances towards a woman who’d been released from the jail.

On July 17, 2024, a woman reported that 22-year-old Miguel Mederos, a jailer for the Denton Police Department, offered her a ride to her car after she was released from the City of Denton Jail on January 2, 2023.

During the ride, Mederos made sexual comments and later sent her inappropriate text messages.

The Denton Police Department placed Mederos on leave right after receiving the report. After investigating, they found that Mederos had sexually harassed the woman by asking for sexual favors.

On July 23, 2024, Mederos was fired and arrested for official oppression. He had worked for the department since June 2022. Mederos is now in Denton County Jail with a $2,500 bond.
