A man was found dead in a wooded area after he shot and killed an elderly couple at a nearby cemetery in Delaware Friday morning.
Officers responded to a shooting on the 2400 block of Chesapeake City Rd and when they arrived they found a deceased 85 year old woman and a 86 year old man suffering from a gunshot wound.
The man who was later identified as the victims husband died Saturday night in the hospital from his injuries.
Authorities say the suspect Sheldon C. Francis,29 shot an elderly couple while they were visiting Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear Friday morning and fled the scene to a wooded area where he fired his gun at police.
Authorities in return exchanged fire not knowing if the struck they suspect or not.
Around 4pm police walked into the wooded area and noticed Francis deceased.
It is unclear at the time if one of the officers struck Francis or if he died from a self inflicted wound.
This shooting investigation is ongoing.
