Deion Sanders Boldly Tells Colorado Players To ‘Get Into The Portal’

In recent years, the Colorado Buffaloes have experienced many losses. They have only had two victorious seasons since becoming a part of the Pac-12 in 2013.

Now, new head coach Deion Sanders will attempt to change this trajectory as he takes over.

After Jackson State’s SWAC Championship victory on Saturday, Sanders validated that he would be the new head coach at Colorado.

One of his first moves as such, included meeting with his new players on Sunday, detailing for them his strategy to improving the program.

“We got a few positions taken care of because I’m bringing my luggage with me, and it’s Louis Vuitton. It ain’t gone be no more of a mess that these wonderful fans, the student body, and some of you parents have put up with for probably two decades,” said Sanders.

“I’m coming, and when I get here, it’s gonna be changed. So I want y’all to get ready. Go ahead and jump in that (transfer) portal and do whatever you’re gonna get. Because the more of you jump in, the more room you make. We bring on kids that are smart and tough,” he added.

It is very evident that Sanders is taking is new role seriously, but many have criticized him for being too harsh, too early.

“Oh my God. The clip of Deion telling the Colorado players to hit the portal is UNREAL,” one person tweeted.

“What a move. Don’t hate it, but pretty aggressive,” someone else tweeted.

“The funny part is, you think coaches aren’t going to use this AGAINST prime?” another person questioned.

Sanders has made it known that he has his own plan on how to move forward, and it looks like he plans to bring in his own people.

It is probably how most coaches desire to begin with a new team, but it is usual to see a coach take these bold steps the day following them taken the job.
