The death of a baby decapitated in a medical facility has been ruled a homicide by the Clayton County, Georgia, medical examiner’s office.

On July 9, 20-year-old Jessica Ross went into labor as she was pregnant with her son, Treveon Isaiah Taylor Jr. at Southern Regional Medical Center in Clayton County.

Lawsuit documents filed by the family state that the baby became stuck about 10 hours after Ross had gone into labor. It then became decapitated as the doctor tried to pull him out.

The suit states that the doctor “pulled on the baby’s head and neck so hard and manipulated them so hard, that the bones in the baby’s skull, head, and neck were broken.”

The family is now suing the doctor who delivered the baby, Tracey St. Julian, her OBGYN practice, and the physicians and nurses who were a part of the baby’s delivery. The are citing medical negligence and the wrongful death of the baby. In addition to that, documents state that the hospital attempted to hide the fact that the baby was decapitated.

The medical examiner has listed the baby’s cause of death as the fracture-dislocation of his upper cervical spine and spinal cord.

The hospital claims that the baby died in utero before the delivery and decapitation. They also say that Tracey St. Julian isn’t and has never been an employee of the hospital.

The matter has also been turned over to the district attorney’s office, but it isn’t known if charges will be filed.
