A multi vehicle crash on U.S. 75 left three people, including a six-year-old girl, dead in Richardson Thursday night.
The incident occurred just before midnight in the southbound lanes of the highway, near Renner Road.
According to officers they received a call regarding a stalled Cadillac SUV in the southbound HOV lane. Before law enforcement could arrive to the scene, a Lexus SUV collided into the rear of the Cadillac, followed by a Dodge sedan crashing into the back of the Lexus.
The six passengers in the Cadillac SUV were standing outside the vehicle at the time of the collision. One of the Cadillac passengers, identified as 19-year-old Alyia Khalid, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and four other passengers were transported to a local hospital for non life threatehinb injuries and one passenger was unharmed.
The driver of the Lexus, Haley Taylor,27 and her six year old daughter both succumbed to their injuries after being transported to an area hospital. The driver and a passenger of the Dodge sedan sustained non life threatening injuries and were also taken to the hospital.
Additionally, a Nissan sedan was hit during the incident—first by the Dodge sedan and then again by an 18-wheeler. Fortunately, no one in the Nissan was injured, although two other vehicles sustained damage from debris resulting from the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
