Daycare Worker Jailed After Video Showed Her Putting Infant’s Hand In Bottle Warmer

A mother in New Orleans is seeking justice after her six-month-old had her hand forcefully burned in a bottle warmer. This occured at a daycare where a worker was apprehended for the offense.

Khalecia Vinning stated that she dropped her baby, Harper, off at McMillan’s First Steps in Central City, on Friday, September 22.

Later, McMillan’s contacted her, letting her know that her baby had been burned. Vinning then went to the school and transported her daughter to a medical facility where blisters were scrubbed of her hand.

27-year-old Victoria Saulter, a worker at the daycare, was later arrested. This was for putting the baby’s hand on the bottle warmer twice, stating, “Good job!” as the baby wailed in agony.

Documents show that the warmer heats water to a temperature as high as 194.5 degrees Fahrenheit.

Saulter is still in custody on a $50,000 bond.

The infant had been transported to Children’s Hospital New Orleans with second-degree burns. The wounds were so extensive that physicians say that the baby could have scars and could lose the range of motion in her hand.

Reports indicate that the child was burned, as seen on video, at about 1:10 p.m. However, Saulter didn’t tell administration at daycare until 3:50 p.m.

Vinning now wants the daycare to be held responsible, as well as, Saulter.

The daycare noted that they fired Saulter immediately after being informed of the incident and contacted police, CPS, and state licensing to report the occurrence.

An investigation is continuing.
