DART Police Officer, James Spiller, has passed away just weeks into his retirement. Spiller retired late last year after serving almost 20 years as Chief of Police for DART.
“Chief Spiller always led the DART Police Department with distinction and honor. His positive attitude and desire to be of service to others encouraged us all, even in our darkest hours,” stated DART spokesperson Gordon Shattles.
“Our prayers go out to his family, as well as the entire DART Police Department during this very difficult time,” DART added.
Chief Spiller joined DART back in 2001 after a 25-year career with the U.S. Airforce, serving as a director of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency.
His cause of death has not yet been determined. He retired from the department as of December 15.
