On Wednesday morning, close to 7 a.m., a fire broke out at a residence on Briaridge Road in North Dallas.
A woman died, and a firefighter was trapped inside the home for a short period of time.
Dallas Fire-Rescue stated that when they arrived on scene, heavy smoke could be observed coming from the residence.
Neighbors disclosed to crews that a woman lived in the house. They attempted to rescue her but were unsuccessful.
A man that was inside the house was able to escape before firefighters came. He was transported to a hospital with burn wounds.
As the blaze ensued, a firefighter was trapped, shortly, in the home. He experienced minor smoke inhalation and was transported to a hospital to be checked out.
“Anytime you get to a fire, you have to make sure you maintain control because the adrenaline is flowing. But whenever there’s circumstances like the possibility of someone still being inside, you have to work that much harder to keep things under control so you can handle, so you can keep your mind focused on the task at hand,” stated a fire department spokesperson.
The victim hasn’t been publicly named, and an investigation is underway.
