Dallas Tow Truck Driver Runs Over Man During Tow, Charged With Manslaughter

A tow truck driver in Dallas has been accused of running over a man, killing him.

A little after 3 a.m. on Sunday, 67-year-old James Smith was discovered lying in a parking lot in Lake Highlands off of Shoreview Rd. He was later declared deceased at a medical facility.

Detectives say that Smith jumped into the driver’s side of the car as it was being towed from the parking lot.

He ended up falling from the truck and was run over.

Roberto Padilla, the 25-year-old tow truck driver, was located at the Dallas Auto Pound.

He was transported to the Dallas County Jail and is now facing manslaughter charges.
