The driver of a tow truck that caused a deadly crash and left the scene has been apprehended.

25-year-old Juan Garcia turned himself into authorities on Monday night. He has been charged with causing an accident involving serious bodily injury and tampering with evidence. His bond was set at $22,500.

Last week, officials released a video depicting a red tow truck that was believed to be driven by Garcia when he struck a family’s van on Aug. 12. The wreck caused the van to turn and face oncoming traffic on Interstate 30, close to downtown Dallas.

Garcia is then accused of leaving the scene.

A few minutes later, 25-year-old Donald Collins, an ex-Marine, pulled over to assist the mother and son who were still inside of the wrecked van. Then, another driver, believed to be drunk, crashed into them.

Collins died from his wounds.

33-year-old Irma Leal has been named as the driver that struck Collins in the second wreck. She was apprehended and charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.
