A serial killer is set to go on trial for the death of an 87-year-old woman.

Billy Chemirmir, 49, had been charged with killing 22 women in Dallas Texas.

Chemirmir was found guilty in April for the death of 81-year-old Lu Thi Harris. He received a sentence of life in prison without parole.

The capital murder trial in the death of 87-year-old Mary Brooks is set to begin on October 3, 2022, in Dallas Texas. If convicted, he will receive a second sentence of life in prison without parole.

Chemirmir is accused of killing elderly people who lived in assisted living apartment communities. He allegedly forced himself into their homes or posed as a handyman. He’s even accused of killing a widow of a man he had cared for in his line of work as an at-home caregiver along with killing other women in their private homes.

In March of 2018 a woman who was 91 at the time reported to police that a man forced his way into her apartment and tried to smother her before taking her jewelry.

Police found Chemirmir the next day in his apartment complex parking lot. He had jewelry and cash on him and was seen throwing a large red jewelry box away. According to reports the documents in the box led police to Harris’s home. She was found dead inside.

In a video interview with police, Chemirmir told a detective that he made money buying and selling jewelry. He also worked as a caregiver and a security guard.
