Dallas Salon Owner Jailed For Refusing To Close Her Salon Released From Jail

3.2kviews

Dallas Salon owner Shelly Luther was released from prison shortly after Governor
Greg Abbott made a change to his executive order to remove confinement as punishment.
Luther was arrested earlier this week and confined to seven days in jail after she refused to close the doors to her salon despite strict state restrictions for the Coronavirus.
Abbott mentioned her by name when bringing up this issue, he stated that “Throwing Texans in jail who have had their business shut down through no fault of their own is nonsensical, and I will not allow it to happen.
That is why I am modifying my executive order to ensure confinement is not a punishment for violating an order.”
