Dallas Mavericks Assistant Coach Darrell Armstrong Faces Aggravated Assault With A Deadly Weapon Charge
Darrell Armstrong, an assistant coach for the Dallas Mavericks, was arrested over the weekend on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Dallas Police responded to a report of an assault at approximately 3:45 a.m. Saturday, in the 1000 block of Ross Avenue.
According to reports there was a confrontation between Armstrong,56, and a female victim. During that time he allegedly struck her in the face with a firearm and threatened to shoot her.
The woman contacted police, leading to Armstrong being arrested and booked into the Dallas County jail shortly before 7:30 a.m.
Armatrong is now facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond was set at $35,000, which he has since posted.
The Dallas Mavericks released a statement on Sunday:
“The Dallas Mavericks are aware of an incident involving a member of our staff and are gathering all relevant information surrounding the incident.
We take this matter seriously. The employee has been placed on administrative suspension pending the outcome of legal proceedings.
This matter is currently under review by the appropriate legal authorities. Due to this fact, we will allow the legal process to run its course and we will refrain from further comment while proceedings are ongoing.”
