Dallas Man Who Shot And Killed Robbery Suspect At A Family Dollar Has Been Cleared Of The Murder Charge

536views

Kevin Jackson Sr. has been cleared of a murder charge after he fatally shot a robbery suspect inside of a Family Dollar store in 2022. To some it had seemed as though he had been protecting women who were being assaulted.

Court records show that a Dallas County jury decided not to indict Jackson in the matter. Documents show that Jackson shot and killed Phillip Betts, 26, inside of a Family Dollar, near Lancaster Road in Oak Cliff.

However, Betts is said to have stolen from the store and attacked two female workers who were attempting to stop him. Betts is accused of hitting one woman several times with his fists and scratching the other woman.

Jackson, who had seen what was going on, instructed the women to move and shot Betts. He had no previous criminal history prior to this charge, and his gun was legal.

After shooting Betts, Jackson stayed on the scene and waited for authorities to arrive. Although he told officers that he was only trying to protect the women, he was still charged with murder.

Since being cleared of the charge, Jackson, a truck driver, stated that he is now ready to move on with his life.

  2. I’m so glad to read he was cleared. The guy was a thief continuing to still from the store and he put his hands on those women. Weather he had a weapon or not he was in the wrong. We need more men to protect us from devils schemes.
