A Dallas man was arrested for drug possession in Sulphur Springs over the weekend.

Ernest Vanegas, 61, was taken into custody by law enforcement in Hopkins County for possessing drug paraphernalia after a routine interaction in a store parking lot.

Officers observed that Vanegas seemed disoriented and decided to assist him. During a consensual search, they discovered a glass pipe with burned residue and a plastic bag containing a white, crystal-like substance, which is believed to be methamphetamine.

Vanegas was booked at the Hopkins County Jail, and no further charges have been reported at this time.
