An investigation is underway into the Dallas County Juvenile Detention Center after allegations arise of Child Neglect.
The inspector general of the Texas Juvenile Justice Department is looking into Dallas County’s policies and procedures at the detention center.
According to reports, families and detention officers, both current and former, claim more than 140 children are left in locked cells.
They say the kids are locked away for longer than the legally allowed time and they’re not given food or medical attention when needed.
A look into the investigation includes searching and reading through hundreds of documents. Including employee complaints, family complaints, and reports from state inspections.
