On Tuesday, Dak Prescott gave a statement, showing he sided with fans who threw items at game officials. The remarks were about Sunday’s wild-card game against the San Francisco 49ers which the Cowboys lost.
The Dallas Cowboys quarterback was upset when he thought fans attacked the players. But, when he learned that they were mad at referees, he had a “change of heart.”
“Credit to them,” Prescott declared when he found out fans had thrown things at officials as they ran out of the tunnel.
“The NBA condemns the comments by Dak Prescott condoning violence against game officials. As an NFL leader, he should know better. We encourage the NFL to take action to discourage this deplorable behavior in the future,” The National Basketball Referees Association noted.
Hours after that, Prescott posted, ” I deeply regret the comments I made…I was caught up in the emotion of a disappointing loss, and my words were uncalled for and unfair…,”he said. “That was a mistake on my behalf, and I am sorry.”
Fans are thought to have been upset because a referee was spotting the ball on the final play, feeling as though it caused time to run out and the game to be over.
Prescott must have agreed with them.
