A judge has ruled that a man, who was released from prison in 2021 after being imprisoned for a killing he says he didn’t do, must return to prison.

On April 17, Crosley Green, 65, must surrender to authorities to complete his life sentence, a judge has ordered.

In 1989, Green was convicted of fatally shooting Charles Flynn, 21, in Florida. Green, who is Black, was handed down a death sentence by an all-white jury. Because of a technicality as the sentencing phase was carried out, his punishment was resentenced to life in prison.

In 2018, a judge ruled evidence indicating that somebody else was the assailant was not presented in court. The conviction was overturned, and Green was freed under conditional terms in 2021. But a higher court didn’t agree, and Green’s conviction was reinstated last year.

Now, Green’s only choices to stay out of prison are clemency or parole. His legal team is fighting everyday to proclaim his innocence.
