An update was released by the Haltom City Police Department regarding the accident that occurred alongside eastbound N Loop 820 on Friday.
It was stated that a pickup truck was traveling eastbound on 820 when the driver attempted to grab his water bottle but lost control of the vehicle instead. The truck veered to the left and hit the median and then collided into a stranded vehicle on the highway.
This made the truck glide through the air and land on top of a vehicle parked in front of the stranded vehicle.
The woman who was sitting inside the second vehicle was killed in the crash. Two men who were changing the flat outside the vehicle were both seriously injured and were sent to local trauma centers.
The driver of the pickup truck was sent to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. The lanes on eastbound N loop 820 had been closed down for several hours while the investigators documented the scene.
The investigation is still ongoing and it is not clear on whether or not the driver of the pickup truck will face charges.
