Couple Discover Burglar Inside Their New Residence In Frisco, Prior To Police Fatally Shooting Him

A couple in Frisco was alarmed by an armed burglar as they were moving into their new residence on Saturday.

“We had to call the leasing office, and a maintenance employee finally got it open,” AJ Steele reported, stating that he was moving in on Saturday and saw that the garage door to the apartment unit was stuck.

He said that a man was sitting in his running car and was attempting to go in reverse. Steele had knocked on his window, asking why he was in his garage. The man then rolled down the window but said nothing more than, ‘Uh.’

The suspect was unable to leave out of the garage in their car because Steele’s moving truck was blocking it. Steele then ran into his home and called authorities, with Frisco Police getting there a little while after that.

Officers stated that they arrived to the residence on Legacy Drive and Lakehill Boulevard after reports of an active burglary.

As the couple were inside their home, police saw the armed suspect at the location and stated that they had to fire their weapon.

The department has noted that the shooting was an isolated occurrence, and the Texas Rangers have taken the lead in the investigation.

Authorities later cofirmed that the suspect opened fire on them, and they were forced to return fire. The suspect has been declared deceased, and his identity will be released pending identification confirmation by the Tarrant County Medical center’s office.

No officers or anyone else was reported to be harmed in the incident.

“We don’t feel safe enough to stay, at least in this unit for sure,” Steele stated.
