One of China’s most valuable private companies, Alibaba, has fired a female employee after she came forward with sexual harassment accusations.
Zhu, a former employee, went viral during the #MeToo movement for posting a video on the company’s website. In the video, she accuses her boss, Wang, of raping her after a drunken night on a business trip. Zhu reported the assault to the company but no one acted.
Wang was dismissed from the company after the video. But shortly after, Zhu was also dismissed. Alibaba is disputing her accusation, saying in the dismissal letter that she lied about being raped.
