An Alabama college football player was arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase with half a pound of weed and a loaded gun in his vehicle.
University of Alabama defensive back Tony Mitchell, with passenger Chris Lewis in the vehicle, reached speeds of 141 MPH while attempting to flee from police on March 15th.
According to body cam footage that was released by the Holmes County Sheriff’s Department, Mitchell’s Dodge Challenger was clocked going 78 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. When authorities attempted to pull over the vehicle, Mitchell sped off.
After a brief pursuit, the five-star player pulled over and officers made contact with him and the passenger. When the smell of marijuana being present was addressed, Mitchell reached to the floorboard and provided the officer with a 2-ounce bag of weed.
Following a thorough search of the vehicle, over $7,000 in cash, 226 grams of weed, and a loaded gun were located.
Both driver and passenger were arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute.
Shortly after his arrest, Mitchell was suspended from the team.

Two ounces! Please stop with the busting people for weed. Now the gun? No changes for that? Weird.
