A man from Kentucky recently went viral after rushing from work to go somewhere, arriving in his work clothes, this past weekend.
Michael McGuire, a coal miner, attended the University of Kentucky’s Blue-White game with his relatives. It wasn’t just about going to the game but spending time with family, as well.
“I’m just really excited to make all these memories with my kids and my wife,” he stated.
As most fans sported their Kentucky blue, McGuire still wore his work attire, which was covered in coal dust. He had traveled from the coal mines to the game to be with his family.
“It was either go straight there or miss half of the game to go home and take a shower…”
He added that he wanted to be in attendance as his son experienced his first Kentucky basketball game.
“He had a blast… and every time they would do a slam dunk, he would go crazy.”
McGuire’s family is seen multiple times throughout the broadcast, but a picture shared on social media by coach John Calipari caught many people’s eyes. The coach had been searching for McGuire to provide him with VIP tickets to one of the games.
The picture went viral as McGuire was working underground.
“When I got out and got service on my way home, it went crazy. I couldn’t believe that it was real,” he commented.
He added that he was overwhelmed and humbled and had talked to coach Calipari by phone.
“It was awesome. Coach Calipari is really down to earth…it’s mind-blowing that everybody came together like that.”
