Chris Cuomo Files $125 Million Lawsuit Against CNN, Says He Shouldn’t Have Been Fired

On Wednesday, it was announced that ex-CNN news anchor, Chris Cuomo, is suing the network for $125 million. He says that CNN wrongly fired him.

Andrew Cuomo was fighting accusations of sexual harassment while governor of New York. Chris Cuomo, his brother, was terminated after it was discovered that he was an advisor to his brother.

“…Chris Cuomo did not lie to CNN about helping his brother,” his lawyer said. “…CNN’s highest-level executives not only knew about Chris’s involvement in helping his brother but also actively assisted the Governor. This was both through Chris and directly themselves.”

In August, Andrew Cuomo left his position as governor. Many had been wondering if Chris had crossed journalism boundaries when advising his brother. In December, CNN terminated Chris.

When the Coronavirus pandemic started, the governor could be seen often on Chris Cuomo’s show.

This proves that CNN didn’t have an issue with Andrew Cuomo, his brother’s attorney stated. The lawyer believes the ex-governor was featured on the show to increase ratings. But later, CNN received backlash for the decision, causing Chris to be the scapegoat.

“…CNN wrongfully terminated Chris. They further violated the express terms of his employment agreement by allowing its employees to disparage him. Chris is owed a full apology from those responsible.”
