Cases Could Be Affected After 22TB Gone Out Of Dallas Police Department’s System

2.5kviews

The Dallas Police Department is trying to figure out how many cases are going to present challenges. This is because 22 terabytes of data was accidentally removed. It pertains to cases that occurred before July 28, 2020.

The department first found out about the issue after changing systems in April 2021.

According to Dallas County DA John Cruezot, the information was deleted  between March 31, 2021 and April 5, 2021.

He said that some files were found, but many are still not showing up. Additionally, he said that DWI’s, evading arrest, and unlawful possession of a firearm records were not removed. This is due to detectives handling those cases.

If anyone believes that their case could be a part of this problem, he asks that they write a request and give it to a trial prosecutor.
