Car Dealership Owner Arrested For Changing The Odometer

A car dealership owner, in Florida, was apprehended for altering a odometer.

It is against the law for a seller to put a vehicle up for sale under false pretenses.

In this incident, the owner altered the mileage so that it wouldn’t read 180,000 miles but 100,000 miles. This comes out to four or five years difference in mileage driven.

After the buyer bought the car for a little over $9,000, it began to have issues. He let the seller know that he was experiencing serious problems with his 2019 Mazda CX9.

Then, he took the vehicle to CarMax to have it checked out. It was discovered that the odometer had been messed with.

Over the phone, the seller admitted to the unjust act. He offered to buy it back, but the purchaser contacted authorities.

The dealership owner was arrested and faces intend to defraud and tampering with a motor vehicle’s odometer.
