A Tarrant County mother was charged with capital murder in the death of her daughter.
Now, charges against the Saginaw, Texas, mom have been dropped after 7 years. Someone else may have been responsible for the death of two-month-old Madelynn.
Yoselin Rivas, the mother, had been out on bond since she was apprehended.
Doctors had discovered fractured ribs and wounds on the baby’s body. The mother was then accused of hitting her daughter against a hard object.
Now, a supplement report has been added to the autopsy findings. It shows details about the baby’s body temperature. This was when she had arrived at Cook Children’s Medical Center.
This would indicate that the child was deceased hours before her mother was said to have discovered her. Ultimately meaning someone else could be responsible for the death of the baby.
Included in the dismissal records was the father’s original statement. He had stated that he believed that Rivas was guilty. On March 21, he said that he didn’t know if Rivas is guilty.
Tarrant County Medical Examiner Dr. Nizam Peerwani retired in 2021. This came amidst many complaints about his office’s managing of other autopsies.
Peerwani has stated that he has done nothing wrong.
