It was confirmed on Wednesday that Ice Cube made an offer worth $5 million to basketball superstar Caitlin Clark to play in the BIG3.
The Big3 was founded by rapper/actor Ice Cube and has former NBA as well as International players on its league. If Caitlin was to accept the offer she would be the first woman to join the league.
According to sources, the deal presented to Caitlin was she play in 8 regular season games and 2 possible playoff games. She will also still be able to play for the WNBA.
A statement was released from Ice Cube saying, “We intended the offer to remain private while Caitlin Clark plays for the championship.
But I won’t deny what’s now already out there: BIG3 made a historic offer to Caitlin Clark. Why wouldn’t we? Caitlin is a generational athlete who can achieve tremendous success in the BIG3.
The skeptics laughed when we made Nancy Lieberman the first female coach of a men’s pro team, and she won the championship in her first year. Then Lisa Leslie won it all in year two. With our offer, Caitlin Clark can make history and break down even more barriers for women athletes.”
Caitlin Clark is currently a guard for the Iowa Hawkeyes and is expected to be the WNBA’s No. 1 draft pick on April 15 by the Indiana Fever.
