Biden Administration Moving Forward With Placing Harriet Tubman On $20 Bill

On Monday, the White House Press Secretary, Jen Psaki, stated that President Biden’s Treasury Department is trying to find ways to speed up the process of adding Harriet Tubman’s portrait to the front of the twenty dollar bill.
The Trump Administration allowed the Obama-era initiative to lapse.
Originally Former President Donald Trump had opposed the idea of having Harriet Tubman replace Andrew Jackson as the Face of the $20 bill in 2016, He and his Treasury secretary, Steven Mnuchin, stopped work on that part of the currency redesign, arguing that adding new security features to the money was a more urgent priority.
President Biden, as since then nominated Janet L. Yellen to lead the Treasury Department, and has made plans to accelerate that timeline. Jen Psaki stated that-  “The Treasury Department is taking steps to resume efforts to put Harriet Tubman on the front of the new $20 bill. It’s important that our money reflect the history and diversity of our country.”
It was also stated by a Treasury Spokeswomen that no information has been made on when the new $20 bill could be released.
Former President Trump, a true fan of Andrew Jackson, had been a major obstacle in changing historical images and statues. And Mnuchin’s received backlash from the Democratic party in Congress with his decision to slow-walk the change and triggered a probe from the Treasury inspector general about theater the process faced improper political interference. It was stated that nothing had been found after the investigation.
On the Centennial of the 19th Amendment, which allows women to vote, Lew’s plan was supposed to unveil the new design, 2020. Before former President Trump had taken office, the new design for the $20 bill, with Harriet Tubman’s likeness on the front and a state on the back of Andrew Jackson.
