The Biden administration is extending the transportation mask mandate again, this time for 15 days. A one-month extension was previously announced in March and was set to expire after April 18.
Masks have been required by airlines since the start of Covid pandemic in 2020, but the Biden administration made them mandatory in early 2021.
Airlines have repeatedly asked the Biden administration to drop the mask mandate as well as other Covid restrictions. They have requested to no longer be forced to do pre-departure testing for international arrivals, including citizens.
With the mask mandate extension, the mandate will now stay in effect through May 3.
