A police officer was killed and another was fighting for his life after being shot in Baton Rouge Sunday.
North Baton Rouge on Conrad at around 1 p.m a shooting occurred. Chief Murphy Paul stated that the officer “is fighting for his life” at a nearby hospital, while the other officer sadly lost his life in the crossfire.
Statements were made that the officers were originally there to investigate a shooting report at a residence in the 3100 block of Conrad Street.
The officers were met with an unexpected shooting and were immediately sent to the hospital in Ou Lady Of The Lake. Once there an officer had died, he was a twenty-one year veteran of the BRPD, and the officer after him is currently fighting for his life. This officer was a seven year veteran.
No names were released to the public about the officers.
The suspect is in custody and charged with murder.
